04/05/28 a.m. 20:00 in the pool, 25:00 on weights at the YWCA. Another "joint" workout, this time with the pool and then weights. It worked well, though I reeked of chlorine in the weight room, even after a rinse in the shower. I'm liking the combo workouts, the newness of them is a good thing.

04/05/27 a.m. 30:00 on the exercise bike, 35:00 on the treadmill at the YWCA. The first "joint" workout of the plan. Did the exercise bike, then moved to the treadmill for a 30 min run and 5 min cooldown. Heart rate stayed steady and never above 163 that I could tell. Had to stop twice to adjust the new running shoes I got on Saturday, but otherwise the whole thing went really well.

04/05/25 a.m. 30:00 in the YWCA pool. Breaks gradually get smaller, but I really need to review some drills. Did some floating on my back to reorient to the "pushing" feeling in the chest and that felt really good.

04/05/22 a.m. 45:00 biking in Rock Creek Park. Rode down to Thompson's boathouse and back. Ride went well, save the fact that I need more air in the tires (but the pump is still broken at City Bikes!). Ride was nice, and lots of cicada noise in the background.

04/05/20 a.m. 35:00 on weights at the YWCA. Took a bit more time than expected, with some more breaks between sets. Otherwise was good.

04/05/19 a.m. 40:00 on the YWCA treadmill. 35 minute run, 5 minute cooldown. Heart rate was pretty steady, and never above 166. Knees were sore, and had to stop and rub the one ankle about 5 minutes in, but then it was fine. I need new running shoes, period, so a trip to Fleet Feet is in order this weekend.

04/05/18 a.m. 20:00 in the YWCA pool. Went pretty well, I'm gradually getting a bit more stamina, but am still dismayed at the recovery time needed between each length. When I try to do more than one length I get too tired out and the whole breathing thing gets out of whack. Ah well, it'll get there.

04/05/13 a.m. 25:00 on weights at the YWCA. Did an all-over weight routine this morning as a supplement to the endurance cardio stuff that I'm concentrating on. Had to go down to the 2nd floor because the two machines I wanted to use were being monopolized. Rather than get fussy I just went downstairs and used alternate machines (the Y has machines on both the 2nd and 3rd floors, with the free weights being up on 3) then came back upstairs to finish up. Was quite fun.

04/05/12 a.m. 25:00 in the YWCA on the treadmill. Moved the pace up a notch this morning. Less time, faster pace. Did 20 minutes of running, gradually moving the pace up to just under 11 minutes per mile, then did 5 minutes of cool down. HR only got to 163, which wasn't bad, and moved down pretty well at the end. Definitely need to get my HR monitor fixed so I can use it for training. Overall quite pleased with the workout and looking forward to the strength training tomorow.

04/05/11 a.m. 21:00 in the YWCA pool. Took fewer breaks this morning. The beginning was tres easy, I was very relaxed and my form was pretty good. As I progressed my form got worse as I got more winded. :-p Ended up sharing the lane with a woman in a swim belt for the last ten minutes or so. Actually, several people hopped in the pool in the last 10 minutes and the water got much cloudier than it had been when it was just me and two others. Ah well. The workout went well, and I'm slowly closing the rest gap between lengths.

04/05/05 a.m. 30:00 in the YWCA on the treadmill. Decided, since I have been walking for two days without pain, to try the treadmill, with the mental caveat that if I felt sore I would stop and hop on the elliptical. Managed to do the full 30 minutes running, with a brief break to tighten my shoelaces, at an 11:30 mile pace, so a little over 2 miles. My thighs are going to feel it tomorrow, and my knees were a bit fussy on the steps in the Metro afterward, but it felt good to do a simple run at a moderate pace.

04/05/04 a.m. 30:00 in the YWCA pool. A bit more continuity than the last time, but still plenty of rest periods between lengths. Did two lengths back to back and felt like I was going to explode. Definitely not ready for long lengths in the pool yet.
